It’s time to Let it Go!

Romans 6:12Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.

Have you ever struggled with finding a balance between a guilty pleasure and your love for Christ? Yea! You’re not alone. We’ve all been down that path. But in Romans 6:12, God tells us “Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body…” This is not a battle of words, but it is an authoritative instruction to be obeyed immediately! God is saying,

“Stop it and stop it right now!” "Let it go, and don't look there anymore!"

If you in on pop culture or a music lover (like I am...or I try to be), the moment you hear those three words "Let, it, go!" the first thing you think of (or that comes to mind) is the song to the movie Frozen. SPOILERS AHEAD!

It was time for Princess Elsa to reveal herself, her 'true' self to the world around her. For years and years she had hid in the confines of her castle, but it was time to leave that life behind and unleash what had been hid inside her. The song says "Let it go, Let it go, Can't hold it back anymore".

The same way, instead of listening to the commands of your flesh, it is time to "Let it Go" and listen to the God inside of you; it is time to unleash your 'true' self to the world around you. God will not let you go through something if you don’t have the power to stop it.

1 Corinthians 10:13 say “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”

As you do your part, the Holy Spirit will rise up inside you, and His grace would enable you to make sure this sin, guilty pleasure never rule or call the shots in your life again!

Determine today to willingly obey, step by step, whatever Jesus asks you to do to get your desires under control.

PRAYER:

Father, I repent for allowing my desires control so much of my life. I’m ready for a change – to let it go. Holy Spirit, I am depending on You to help me walk free of these desires and make Jesus the Lord of my life.
